FORT DODGE, IOWA (PRWEB) MAY 20, 2022
The Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance has released a new video series called Business, Community, Opportunity. This exciting series highlights 10 businesses across the region and showcases the positive impact they have on the community. From job creation to economic development, these businesses are making a difference in the lives of their employees and customers.
The first video in the series profiles Fletcher Wood Products and how the business has grown with the help of the community. Fletcher Wood Products has been in operation for over 60 years. They've seen success by diversifying their services and focusing on quality workmanship.
In 2018, Clark Fletcher and Joe Jackson decided it was time to find a new owner for Fletcher Wood Products. About that same time, James Works decided he wanted to go back to being part of a smaller company.
James has spent the last 24 years working in the steel manufacturing business his father started in Humboldt, Kansas growing that company from 19 employees to 450. He had looked at 60 to 70 companies before discovering Fletcher Wood Products. “This one just felt right from the start,” Works said. “From looking at the basic overview of the company online, visiting with the owners, and seeing the community.” On May 12, 2020, James Work took over Fletcher Wood Products.
The ten videos in the series provide a sundry of businesses that are found in the region. "And so you'll see here through this list that we have some very small businesses, we have some that are a little bit larger, we have some homegrown businesses, we have some national business, we have a Midwest business, we have a church and a nonprofit, and all of these members combined just really are a great makeup of our community," states Jill Nelson, Community Development Director with the GFDGA.
Lydia Schuur, Communication Specialist with the GFDGA added, "That actually brings up something in my mind that there are so many connections in this community that you might not have realized exist, but so many groups, nonprofits, businesses, there are so many stories of people working together to create something else. All these interviews brought that out for sure too."
Watch the full video to learn more about James Works and how Fletcher Wood Products has benefited from being part of the community. The other nine videos will continue to be released every three weeks through the rest of the year and you can hear more about them on a recent Spin It podcast.
